ASCENDUM AND VOLVO CE JOIN FORCES TO ACCELERATE ELECTRIC MOBILITY, WITH THE FIA RALLYCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ’23

26.04.2023

ASCENDUM IS ONCE AGAIN THE HOSTING DEALER FOR THE FIRST STAGE (MONTALEGRE) AND GOLD SPONSOR OF THE CE DEALER TEAM.

As one of the world’s largest distributors of construction, industrial and infrastructure equipment, Ascendum has teamed up with Volvo CE to demonstrate the potential of electric mobility at the 2023 FIA World Rallycross Championship. This partnership aims not only to express the important role of the construction equipment sector in the transition to a more sustainable future, but also to increase our brand awareness among our stakeholders.

Ascendum is once again the Hosting Dealer of the Montalegre stage and the Gold Sponsor of the CE Dealer Team. The CE Dealer Team is currently the only mixed team (Niclas Grönholm and Klara Andersson – who achieved 3rd and 7th place in the 2022 world championship respectively) competing driving 100% electric racing cars, which makes this partnership crucial to raise awareness among Ascendum’s customers and partners about electric mobility, carbon neutrality and the solutions already available on the market.

The World Rallycross Championship entered a new era in 2022 by embracing electric mobility and aiming to play an active role in this transition. This new era brought added challenges, as a new generation of all-electric racing cars required a new generation of rallycross tracks. This challenge enabled Volvo CE’s pioneering partnership with the International Automobile Federation (FIA) as an official track construction partner. This partnership ensures a neutral carbon footprint through the use of electric machines and the latest low-emission biofuel engines in the preparation and construction of the tracks.

Ascendum has joined this partnership and is a sponsor of the CE Dealer Team for the second consecutive year. The 1st stage of the 2023 World Championship will take place in Montalegre (Vila Real) on June 3 and 4. The event will be attended by key stakeholders from 7 of Ascendum’s 14 geographies (Portugal, Spain, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania) in a multi-market approach, with the aim of broadening the impact of electric mobility in different markets and increasing Ascendum’s visibility by connecting with new audiences and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders.

As well as being able to watch the competition, Ascendum’s customers and stakeholders will have a unique opportunity that includes:

  • Demonstration of electrical machines;
  • Clarification of doubts and clarification of some myths with experts in electric mobility;
  • Seminars by Volvo CE staff on the challenges and opportunities of
  • Going Electric and about CO2-free locations;
  • Access to the paddock: Meet & Greet with the CE Dealer Team.

The World Rallycross Championship is not only a key customer activation event, but also a unique opportunity for Ascendum employees, particularly service technicians. Exclusive access to the paddock allows them to learn about e-mobility from those who use and operate it every day.

Ascendum’s reinforcement of this sponsorship comes from the recognition that the World Rallycross Championship (World RX) is the perfect alliance between entertainment (competition), education and information, actively contributing to accelerate individual and collective action towards greater sustainability.

Ascendum will have 7 of its 14 geographies (Portugal, Spain, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania) represented on June 3, in a multi-market approach, aiming not only to broaden the impact of electric mobility in different markets and increase Ascendum’s visibility.

The 1st round of the World Rallycross Championship mirrors the transformation in mobility: the transition from combustion to electric mobility. This stage, which combines electric cars with combustion cars, makes Portugal a demonstration stage that proves the efficiency, autonomy, performance and potential of electric mobility.

The 2023 FIA World Rallycross Championship is made up of several rounds that will take place between the months of June and November. More details about the event are available at: https: //www.fiaworldrallycross.com/world-rx/ and at https://www.cedealerteam.com/.
