ASCENDUM IS THE HOSTING DEALER

ASCENDUM IS THE HOSTING DEALER

16.09.2022

Together with Volvo CE – the official track construction partner – Ascendum will be the race host dealer and Gold sponsor of the CE Dealer Team in Montalegre, the next race of the World Rallycross Championship, which takes place on September 17 and 18.

After a challenging race weekend in Riga two weeks ago, the CE Dealer Team returns to action in the World Rallycross Championship, continuing its pioneering journey with a new double event in Montalegre, Portugal.

High in the mountains of Vila Real in the north of the country, the picturesque and historic Portuguese track of Montalegre was part of the original FIA World Rallycross Championship calendar in 2014, with 2022 marking the first time Portugal will host a round of the new all-electric era.

The 945m runway is located around 1,000m above sea level, requiring engines to be fine-tuned to cope with the altitude. Its undulating layout and unpredictable weather have produced many breathtaking battles over the years.

Ascendum and Volvo CE will welcome around 300 guests for a high-speed experience including:

  • 180 VIP clients
  • Ascendum employees
  • 6 vocational schools

The Portuguese leg of the FIA World Rallycross Championship gets underway on Saturday with round four of the 2022 season, followed by round five on Sunday. The program, carefully prepared for these incredible two days, will include many events in addition to the races:

  • A parade of Volvo machines
  • An Excavator Challenge
  • A mini digger enclosure in the sand for children
  • Change Starts Here and Go Electric seminars
  • Meeting the CE Dealer Team, Klara and Niclas, in the Paddock

Some of our service technicians will also have a unique behind-the-scenes experience, with a visit to the Spotter Tower and a meeting with the drivers and mechanics in the Paddock.

Niclas Grönholm who has already competed in Montalegre, said “The track in Portugal is very beautiful, and a place I really enjoy going to. So I’ m really looking forward to the Portuguese race weekend.”

For Klara Andersson it will be her first time in Portugal, competing on a track often described as a driver’s favorite. “It will be the first time for me at the Montalegre track, which I have heard very positive things about, and I am looking forward to racing here.”

Get ready for speed, adrenaline and sustainability leadership as the all-electric World Rallycross Championship is the perfect platform to accelerate sustainable transformation in the construction equipment industry.
The Portuguese race of the FIA World Rallycross Championship is broadcast globally – as well as via the RX+ online streaming platform.
